Special Olympics Washington provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. As a Special Olympics athlete, you will take on the challenge of athletic training and competition, increase physical fitness and have a great time doing so. Special Olympics athletes are an inspiration to the community and we hope you will be inspired to participate.
Special Olympics mean something different to everyone. Some athletes are proudest of the medals they have won; others say it is the friends they have made. Many athletes report that participating in Special Olympics has helped them become more confident, independent people. Vision: The vision of Special Olympics is to help bring all persons with intellectual disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens.
